What is sildenafil citrate soft tabs?

  • Sildenafil Citrate is the generic name for Viagra. Belonging to a group of medicines that are effective for delaying the phosphodiesterases enzyme, which works in the penis area, from acting too quickly, Viagra Soft ensures that an erection, occurred when the penis is stroked, is sustained for a longer period. That is why Viagra Soft helps to treat erectile dysfunction (male sexual disability).
  • Although Viagra Soft pills feature the same active chemicals with regular Viagra, it differs by the way the medication passes into the body. Viagra Soft was specially formulated to be easily dissolved under the tongue, which optimizes its consumption. As the tablet is absorbed in the mouth and comes into the bloodstream directly, without appearing in the stomach, Viagra Soft works faster and more efficiently. Unlike regular Viagra which requires from 30 to 90 minutes to wait, Viagra Soft starts acting within as little as 15-20 minutes after the pill is used. Besides, Viagra Soft has less side effects and interactions. Thus, you can mix it with fat-saturated food and alcohol beverages.

What should I discuss with my doctor before taking sildenafil soft tabs?

  • If you have heart problems of chest pain and treat these conditions with any nitrate medication, you should keep away from taking Viagra Soft. The group of nitrate drugs includes isosorbide dinitrate (Isordil, Dilatrate-SR, Sorbitrate), nitroglycerin (Nitro-Bid, Nitro-Dur, Nitrostat, Nitrolingual and some other) and isosorbide mononitrate (Imdur, Monoket, ISMO). Moreover, some recreational medications called “poppers” (e.g. amyl nitrate and nitrite) contain nitrate as well. Remember that if you mix sildenafil with one of these compounds, it may lead to severe side effects, like too low blood pressure, fainting, a heart attack or stroke.
  • Some patients reported an unexpected vision loss after they had taken sildenafil. It is supposed that such problems with eyesight result from the diminution of the inflow of blood to the optic nerve of the eye. It still remains unknown whether these side effects were caused by the usage of sildenafil or not. Further studies showed that patients who suffered from high blood pressure, some pre-existing vision problems, heart disease, high cholesterol and diabetes, as well as those who smoked or were 50 years old or more, ran a higher risk of a sudden loss of eyesight.
  • In case you have one of the conditions mentioned below, you should talk to your health care provider before starting treatment with sildenafil:
    • kidney disease;
    • coronary artery disease;
    • stomach ulcer;
    • too high or too low blood pressure;
    • history (6 months or less) of a stroke, heart attack or disorder of the heart rhythm;
    • liver disease;
    • heart disease or problems with heart rhythm;
    • physical deformity of the penis, like Peyronie's disease;
    • bleeding disorder, like hemophilia;
    • congestive heart failure;
    • retinitis pigmentosa (that stands for an inherited condition of the eye);
    • blood cell disorder, for instance, multiple myeloma, sickle cell anemia or leukemia;
    • or if your health care provider recommended you to avoid sexual activity because of poor health.
  • In case you have any of the conditions listed above, you’d better keep from taking sildenafil, or use it with caution, adjust your dosage and have special medical tests during treatment.
  • FDA pregnancy category B: Viagra Soft is unlikely to have a negative impact on a fetus. In case you are already pregnant or still planning to become one, you should inform your health care provider beforehand.
  • Any clinical studies regarding the appearance of sildenafil in breast milk haven't been conducted yet. That is why if you are breastfeeding a baby, you aren't recommended to use sildenafil without consulting with your doctor.

How should I take sildenafil soft tabs?

  • Place the tablet under the tongue and wait until it is got dissolved.
  • Take sildenafil when needed only, 15-20 minutes before the anticipated physical intercourse. Keep in mind that sildenafil will act only if you are sexually aroused. If any sexual stimulation isn't provided, the use of sildenafil won't result in an erection.
  • Take Viagra Soft only one time a day.
  • Sildenafil has to be stored away from heat and moisture. Keep the drug at room temperature.

What happens if I miss a dose?

  • As Viagra Soft is consumed only when it is necessary, you can't miss a dose.

What happens if I overdose?

  • If you suspect an overdosage, it is recommended that you seek immediate medical attention. A standard sildenafil overdosage is characterized by such symptoms as irregular heartbeat, lightheadedness, nausea, painful sensations in the chest and fainting.
